International TD-25 Crawler with Umbrella and Sheep’s Foot Roller.
The TD-25 crawler itself is constructed of sturdy diecast metal from more than 300 parts (the complete set from more than 500 parts!) and features rolling metal tracks; front-mounted, poseable diecast metal semi-U blade with cylinders and hydraulic lines, and an accurately detailed DT817B engine. This soil-compacting crawler includes a 6-panel canvas-like cloth umbrella imprinted with the IH logo and features a wire shaft with base. It bears an amazing resemblance to the actual umbrellas of the time and is painted factory colors. The second distinguishing feature of this release is the sheep’s foot roller complete with full wedge teeth, 2 steel drums that rotate and pivot, diecast metal tongue and frames, a pivoting front hitch, and a rear hitch for pulling rollers in tandem when the going gets particularly rough. The empty weight of this rugged roller was 16,500 pounds. When filled with water, it weighed more than 27,000 pounds, and when filled with sand it weighed in at over 37,000 pounds. The result was an incredible 547 pounds of pressure per square inch when filled with water and 748 pounds of pressure per square inch when filled with wet sand! This powerful engine, produced at the Melrose Park Plant in IL, provided 285 flywheel horsepower at 1900 rpm. A power shift synchromesh gear drive transmission combined with exclusive International 2-speed planet power steering gave the TD-25 a total of 4 speeds forward and 4 speeds in reverse.
